Marktcafé Kanters Special Products: A Successful Afternoon in Lieshout
On April 16, Dutch Poultry Centre hosted its latest Marktcafé at the premises of Kanters Special Products in Lieshout. The event brought together poultry professionals for an afternoon of expert presentations, a facility tour, and informal networking. It was a great opportunity to connect with fellow industry professionals and gain practical insights into one of the most underutilised tools in poultry health management: drinking water.
Water as a Vehicle for Supplement Delivery
The central theme of the afternoon revolved around a single but powerful insight: when chickens are not feeling their best, feed intake drops, but water intake remains relatively stable. This makes drinking water one of the most reliable and effective routes for delivering supplements to the flock, precisely at the moments when it matters most.
Karel Fentsahm and Sonja van Vugt of Kanters Special Products took attendees through the practical side of this approach, explaining how smart water-based supplement solutions can support both animal health and farm performance. Their presentation offered concrete examples of how producers can make better use of their water systems as part of an integrated health strategy.
A Look Behind the Scenes
Following the presentations, Rogier van Sambeek guided the group on a tour through the Kanters production site. Attendees got a first-hand look at the facilities, processes, and quality standards behind the Kanters product range. For many, it was an eye-opening experience to see the level of expertise and dedication that goes into developing solutions tailored to the practical needs of poultry producers.
Networking and Connection
After the tour, the group gathered for drinks and informal networking. These moments of connection are at the heart of what Dutch Poultry Centre's Marktcafé format is designed to offer: a relaxed setting where professionals from across the sector can meet, exchange ideas, and build lasting relationships.
DPC chairman Jan T. Wolleswinkel hosted the afternoon and guided the programme, ensuring a smooth and engaging experience for all participants.
Looking Ahead
Dutch Poultry Centre would like to thank Kanters Special Products for their outstanding hospitality and for sharing their knowledge with the group. Events like this reinforce the value of bringing members together around relevant, practical topics that make a real difference on the farm.
