Jeroen Leus sector manager Poultry at Royal GD

Royal GD is pleased to welcome Jeroen Leus, founder of Demetris DierGezondheid in Duiven, as Sector Manager for Poultry. He is thus leaving Animal Health Group, to which Demetris belongs, and in his new position, will lead the Poultry Department at Royal GD.

Jeroen Leus will start in his new role in Deventer on 1 September and, in addition to the management tasks within the department, will continue to actively engage in certain research. Indeed, since 2022, Jeroen has been working on a doctoral research project on E. coli, specifically focusing on how exactly that bacterium spreads in the chain, which lab techniques are needed to properly understand the behaviour of E. coli and how to limit the spread and thus reduce antibiotic use.

Jeroen: “Unfortunately, research is difficult to combine with work in practice. I am now 52 years old and have decided to get more involved in research after working in practice for 28 years.”

Contact with livestock farmers

“I will certainly miss much of my work at Animal Health Group,” Jeroen explains. “Also, letting go of contact with poultry farmers is hard. Still, I feel that as there is an opportunity, I should take the plunge. I assume that at Royal GD, with hands-on research, I will still contribute a lot for poultry farmers and their animals.”

Ynte Schukken, CEO Royal GD: “We are looking forward to Jeroen's arrival. In him, we welcome a passionate poultry expert to Royal GD with an extensive network in the field of poultry health.”
