Novus launches digital platform for raw material data: NOVUS Raw Material Compendium

Novus is informing DPC members about a new development relevant to everyone involved in animal nutrition and feed formulation: the launch of the NOVUS Raw Material Compendium.

From print to digital

Many members are familiar with Novus' former Raw Material Book, a printed reference containing nutritional values for a wide range of feed ingredients. Novus has now replaced this resource with the NOVUS Raw Material Compendium, a new digital platform offering greater flexibility, personalization and ease of use than the previous printed version.

A central hub for raw material data

The platform brings together data from various global sources into one centralized online system, including NRC, AFZ, INRAE, FEDNA, CVB and the Brazilian Tables for Poultry and Swine. Instead of having to consult multiple separate references, nutritionists and formulators can now find, compare and analyze nutritional values for raw materials and nutrients in one place.

Ingredient composition varies depending on the reference database, digestibility methodology, the animal species used in the underlying research, geographic origin, crop conditions, processing method and supplier. This variability directly affects formulation accuracy, purchasing decisions and ultimately feed performance.

Platform capabilities

The NOVUS Raw Material Compendium allows users to:

  • Compare nutritional values of raw materials across multiple global datasets

  • Benchmark their own data against trusted reference tables

  • Assess variability in raw materials and identify outliers

  • Visualize differences through tables and charts

  • Privately upload their own raw material data and compare it against available references

  • Export data for further analysis

Users follow five steps: selecting up to five raw materials, choosing the relevant nutrients, selecting data sources and a reference table, reviewing results through tables and visual comparisons, and exporting data as needed.

Data ownership stays with the user

An important aspect of the platform is that uploaded data remains private and is only visible to the user. This allows nutritionists to work more efficiently while retaining ownership and confidentiality of their own data.

Requesting access

Those interested can gain access to the platform by completing the registration form at novusint.com/services/raw-material-compendium/.

Dutch trade publication De Molenaar also recently covered the launch of this tool. The article can be read at demolenaar.nl.
