Rien Komen new Aeres Executive Board chairman effective 1 July 2025

After completing a careful selection procedure, the Aeres Supervisory Board (RvT) is pleased to announce that Rien Komen will become the new chairman of the Aeres Executive Board as of 1 July 2025.

'Every confidence in strong director'

As the current vice president of the Executive Board, Rien Komen already knows Aeres well. Annie van de Riet, chairman of the Supervisory Board: 'Rien Komen has great knowledge of Aeres and of the dynamic field in which the organisation operates. He is a strong director both strategically and organisationally and that gives us every confidence that he will be successful in keeping Aeres on course over the coming years.

New Board composition as of 1 July 2025

The appointment of Rien Komen as the new Executive Board chairman will lead to a number of changes to the composition of the Board.

- A procedure to recruit a new vice president for the Executive Board will begin immediately. This procedure will be supervised by a specialised external agency. The intended profile of the new vice president will be determined soon. The selection will then start, with the goal of having a new vice president who will form the Executive Board together with Rien Komen by 1 July 2025.

- As of 1 July 2025, the current Board president, Bastiaan Pellikaan, will step down as director of Aeres. Annie van de Riet: ’Bastiaan has put his heart and soul into his long career as a Board member for Aeres, its legal predecessors and green education in general. The Supervisory Board is extremely grateful for his efforts and the results achieved'. In view of his great record of service, an event is currently being planned to give people ample opportunity to thank Bastiaan Pellikaan and to say goodbye.

Aeres is fully on track to achieve its ambition of educating Green Changers, supported by research and services. The Supervisory Board wishes Rien Komen every success in carrying this forward in his new role as Aeres board chairman starting 1 July.
