ABN AMRO has 22,300 employees, of whom 3,000 work abroad. In the Netherlands, the bank has more than 4 million retail customers and offers a broad range of financial services through various distribution channels (office or business centre, phone, call centre and internet).
In the Netherlands, ABN AMRO operates an extended network of 510 bankshops, 77 business offices and 20 Private Banking offices. The global network covers 15 countries and regions.
The bank is entirely owned by the Dutch state. Following approval of the integration plans by the relevant regulatory bodies, ABN AMRO will be merged with Fortis Bank Nederland in the third quarter of 2010. A powerful new bank with a strong Dutch base will be built up on the basis of the strong portfolios, know-how and networks of the two banks.
The new bank will offer a complete package of retail, private banking, investment banking and commercial banking products and services.
